The view is enhanced by glass floor-to ceiling doors that open to a rear patio, where you can recline on handmade iron lounge chairs or keep cool in a dipping pool fed by water which flows over a wall of river stones. Top branches of an ancient Saba, the revered tree of the Maya, peeks over the wall from the neighboring yard, offering shade. The patio is protected from the elements by classic colonial roof tiles. This back-yard area houses a separate bodega, which houses a washing machine and dryer as well as the pump and filtering system for the pool and fountain.

Set apart from the public space you find three spacious air-conditioned bedrooms. The master bedroom features a queen-sized wrought iron bed, an antique ropero (armoire), a wooden chest, and iron & glass side tables, all handmade. The master bath has a beautiful polished concrete shower and 18' ceilings with frosted glass roof accents that play with the light in a magical way. This room is cable and Internet ready.

The second bedroom also has a queen-sized iron 4-poster bed, antique ropero, wooden chest and iron & glass side table. This bedroom opens directly to the second bath, beautifully accented in green-hued polished concrete, with a circular-window opening to the inner courtyard.

The third bedroom can be used either as office or TV/family room and is cable, telephone and Internet ready. It is furnished with a twin-sized sofa bed complete with ample cushions, a desk & chair, a television and a handmade stand.

Casa Tranquila is set in a quiet neighborhood, yet is only a few blocks from the excitement of the zocalo. Also within easy walking distance is the Santa Ana farmer's market and Santiago Park, where local artisans display their goods every weekend. It is a perfect place to return after a night night out in Merida.
